About the role

Located at Corcoran State Prison in Corcoran, Kings County. Position number: 084-213-9267-002. The Chief Physician & Surgeon, Correctional Facility reports to the Institution Chief Medical Executive and directly supervises all civil service and contract medical physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants assigned to the institution. The role works collaboratively with clinical and custody supervisors and managers to ensure medical services are provided safely, timely, effectively and efficiently to the patient population.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise all civil service and contract medical physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants.
• Collaborate with clinical and custody supervisors and managers to ensure medical services are delivered safely, timely, effectively and efficiently.
• Oversee provision of medical care to the patient population at the assigned institution.

Pay

• 15% pay differential on monthly base pay for employees physically located and assigned to Corcoran State Prison.
• Effective July 1, 2025, base salary reduced by 4.62% under the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025); salary figures in the posting do not reflect this change.
• Part‑time and permanent intermittent employees receive the PLP 2025 adjustments on a prorated basis equivalent to their time‑base or hours worked.

Benefits

• 8 Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) leave credits per month for at least 16 months.
