About the role

Pioneer Human Services is seeking a Medical Assistant Certified (on-call) to join our team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to an organization dedicated to transforming lives through social change.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets and explains program policy to each client as needed.
  • Aids in the client's educational process, including conducting health education classes and teaching individual clients about self-administration of medications, administering IM injections, performing phlebotomy procedures, prevention of infectious diseases, nutrition, nicotine.
  • Aids in the client's health and safety needs, including assessing and reporting client concerns regarding physical and psychological needs, administering medications to clients within scope of practice, assisting with setting up Clinic and Tele-health clinics, attending and participating in department staff meetings, meeting with other program staff, consultants, volunteers, and attending other meetings as directed, providing written documentation of observations, providing verbal and written shift reports, and communicating with interdisciplinary team members, documenting observations of behaviors, physical signs and symptoms, and psychological needs, medication delivery, ongoing health assessment needs, and treatment progress and pertinent health and safety issues according to program policy, participating in other areas of treatment plan implementation as directed, stocking supplies, maintaining, inventing, and assisting with ordering of supplies, following physician orders in accordance with program policy, receiving and transcribing written physician’s orders, administering medications to clients within scope of practice in accordance with RCW 18.360.050, assisting physicians with clinical duties, performing and monitoring resident vital signs, performing resident Urine drug screens, performing intramuscularly, subcutaneous injections within scope of practice, performing TB testing, performing Aseptic wound care, performing blood draws, performing Ear Lavage, assisting with Nursing Treatment/care Planning, requesting Nursing consults, providing a safe and healthy environment which includes maintaining, cleaning, and disposing of equipment and supplies according to policy and procedures, promoting and modeling teamwork and collaboration with co-workers.

Requirements

  • GED or High School Diploma.
  • Washington State Medical Assistant Certification – MA-C.
  • Behavioral Health or rehabilitation experience preferred.
  • 6 months working in a residential setting as a medical assistant.

Qualifications

  • Current CPR certification.
  • Current First Aid certification.
  • Current TB test results.

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow protocols.

Pay

New hires for this position typically start between $19.86 and $24.82 hourly/annually, depending on factors such as work location, experience, qualifications, skills, competencies, internal equity, and market conditions.

Schedule

This is an on-call position with varying schedules to accommodate the needs of the organization.
