Medical Assistant (Certified)

Responsibilities

• Accompanying patients to exam rooms
• Preparing patients for exams
• Performing and documenting vital signs
• Assisting with procedures
• Preparing and administering medications with physician’s authorization
• Performing EKGs
• Using CPR skills when required
• Drawing blood
• Providing patient education with regards to office policies, medication, and management of disease, home treatments, and special diets
• Stocking exam rooms, cleaning rooms, cleaning instruments, disposing of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards, and performing accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times
• Adhering to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Two (2) years of related customer facing experience, preferably in healthcare
• Computer knowledge
• Ability to demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills to interact with patients, patients’ families/visitors and clinical staff, including all levels of providers
• Ability to perform with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Must be able to work independently with limited supervision
• Phlebotomy skills and experience, preferred
• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant - National Healthcareer Association
• Medical Assistant - American Medical Technologist
• National Certified Medical Assistant - National Center for Competency Testing
• Certified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants
• Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association within 30 days of hire. Recertification every two years

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience: Two (2) years of related customer facing experience, preferably in healthcare
