Med Surg Nurse

About the Role

Provides, documents, and evaluates nursing care for correctional patients, ensuring adherence to recognized standards and provider orders.

Responsibilities

• Supervises nursing personnel
• Assesses patient conditions
• Maintains accurate documentation of care and patient responses
• Upholds the organization's mission, values, and customer service standards
• Observes and reports patient conditions
• Maintains safety and hygiene standards
• Manages exposure to communicable diseases and chemicals
• May need to lift and push heavy loads with assistance, requiring physical coordination and endurance

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Current Ohio RN license
• Basic Life Support certification (or obtain within 90 days)
• Strong knowledge of nursing theory, medical asepsis, and clinical equipment
• Ability to build positive relationships
• Physical dexterity and coordination

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Correctional health care experience
• Certification as a Certified Corrections Nurse (CCN) or Certified Correctional Health Professional (CCHP)
