Med Surg Nurse

About the Role

Provides comprehensive nursing care within a correctional health setting, ensuring patient needs are met according to medical orders and established standards.

Responsibilities

• Plans, delivers, documents, and evaluates individualized nursing care.
• Supervises assigned nursing personnel and maintains accurate, timely patient records.
• Observes, assesses, and reports on patient conditions and responses to treatment.
• Upholds organizational mission, values, and customer service standards.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with active RN licensure in Ohio.
• Current Basic Life Support certification or obtained within 90 days.
• Strong knowledge of nursing theory, medical sciences, and clinical procedures.
• Proficiency in use and care of nursing instruments and equipment.
• Ability to maintain positive relationships with staff and medical teams.
• High physical dexterity and coordination.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing or correctional health care experience.
• Certification as a Certified Corrections Nurse (CCN) or Correctional Health Professional (CCHP).

Physical & Exposure Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, stoop, and walk for extended periods.
• Capable of lifting and pushing significant weights with assistance.
• Exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, chemicals, and cleaning agents.
