MECK Pre-K Lead Teacher

The Growing Years is seeking MECK Pre-K Lead Teachers to support our state-funded preschool program for children.

Requirements

• Birth-through-Kindergarten (B-K) licensure
• Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
• Ability to see, hear, and respond to children’s needs, including reaching high, stooping to a child’s level, sitting on the floor, and standing quickly to reach a child 20–30 feet away within 15 seconds without risk to personal health
• Ability to stand on your feet for at least 90% of the day

Schedule

• Follows the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools calendar and holidays
• 8-hour workday (Monday–Friday): 6.5 hours with students, 1.5 hours for planning and organizational time
• Same summer break, teacher workdays, and holidays as CMS

Pay

$43,490 – $57,165 per year, based on years of experience and education

Responsibilities

• Implement and model strategies and teaching tools related to academics, social-emotional, and behavioral needs to promote growth for all learners
• Follow program guidelines, childcare regulations, and best practices to ensure a safe and age-appropriate learning environment
• Implement the Creative Curriculum to fidelity
• Complete ongoing assessments and regularly collect valid documentation
• Encourage family participation and provide consistent communication to promote partnership
• Attend and participate in all MECK Pre-K and site-specific professional development
