About the Role

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy is a global leader in renewable energy, with a worldwide installed capacity of 75 GW and a presence in more than 90 countries. As a Mechanical Specialist, you will be responsible for repairing, installing, and inspecting electronic systems, as well as maintaining and adjusting the organization’s electronic and mechanical systems. This role involves extensive travel (up to 95%) and requires interfacing with clients and managing small crews. You may also assist with operations and maintenance during downtime or support other projects within the Advanced Maintenance team, including heavy lifts, major campaigns, and blade repairs.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections (borescope) of drivetrain components (main shaft, bearings, gearbox, gears, and bearings).
• Repair, install, and inspect electronics or electronic systems using verbal/written directions, diagrams, or specifications.
• Maintain and adjust the organization’s electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
• Conduct gearbox repairs, including high-speed bearings, high-speed shafts, intermediate-speed bearings, and mechanical pumps.
• Troubleshoot drivetrain-related issues (pumps, sensors, brakes, cooling units, filters) and assist in large corrective replacements (e.g., crane work for gearboxes and main shafts).
• Test electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components and systems.
• Perform maintenance on wind turbine equipment, including troubleshooting malfunctions and replacing worn or malfunctioning components.
• Assist the Advanced Maintenance group with projects, including large and small correctives on various components.
• Identify process improvements to reduce non-value-added operations, increase productivity, and enhance safety.
• Inspect, diagnose, adjust, and repair wind turbine components, including towers and blades.
• Work in confined/enclosed spaces and at heights while adhering to safety guidelines and using personal protective equipment.
• Document inspection repairs and create detailed reports.
• Provide guidance and training to lower-level employees as needed.

Requirements

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• 2–4 years of experience in a Mechanical and Electrical Specialist Repair Technician role.
• Experience with turbine troubleshooting, including knowledge of electrical and hydraulic schematic readings.
• Familiarity with mechanical/electrical inspection techniques and turbine work/safety practices.
• Proficiency in mechanical/electrical repairs and documentation.
• Ability to work at heights for inspections or repairs.
• Experience using borescope, laser alignment tools, and digital cameras.
• Willingness to travel up to 95% of the time.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (driving is an essential function of the job).
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without employer-sponsored work authorization.

Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency required.
