About the role

As an onsite Mechanical Specialist in Troy, MI, you’ll be part of the SWS Engineering team. You’ll execute product validation methodology, support prototype parts through machining and troubleshooting, and document validation via DVF and DVP&Rs. You’ll communicate feasibility and design feedback to the engineering team and assist with manufacturing, repair, and field equipment performance issues.

Responsibilities

  • Execute product validation methodology to establish performance criteria and ensure all requirements are met.
  • Support prototype parts for validation via machining and troubleshooting of designs.
  • Document all product validation thoroughly and accurately via DVF and DVP&Rs.
  • Communicate concisely with the design/engineering team regarding feasibility and mark-ups/redlines.
  • Operate and maintain manual machines (vertical mill, lathe, surface grinding, etc.) and a Haas CNC 3-Axis mill.
  • Program utilizing MasterCAM.
  • Perform MIG & TIG welding.
  • Apply understanding of GD&T, Engineering Change Notification, and ERP Systems.
  • Assist systems manufacturing and repair personnel in troubleshooting malfunctions in drawn arc welding components and systems.
  • Resolve field equipment performance problems.
  • Provide expert assistance to other areas as directed and perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Support critical projects and ensure timely completion.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Machine Tool Technology or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of testing procedures and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with general engineering practices of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • 3+ years of machining experience utilizing mills, lathes, and hand-held tools.
  • Good technical writing and computer skills.
  • Experience in the Automotive/Industrial industry preferred.
  • Experience with automation products, automated feeding, and electro-mechanical products preferred.
  • UG or AutoCAD experience a plus.

Skills

  • Manual machine operation (vertical mill, lathe, surface grinding, etc.).
  • Operations and maintenance of a Haas CNC 3-Axis mill.
  • MasterCAM programming.
  • MIG & TIG welding.
  • GD&T, Engineering Change Notification, and ERP Systems.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $44,300.00 – $71,300.00 annually, depending on job level, geographic location, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and experience. Eligible for annual merit increases.

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship (H1B, OPT/CPT, TN, etc.).
