About the role
REYNOLDS AMERICAN is seeking a Mechanical Specialist in Winston-Salem, NC.
Responsibilities
- Operates high-speed tobacco cigarette manufacturing equipment (including loading materials weighing up to 50lbs)
- Responsible for maintenance, product quality, output, waste, and regulatory compliance
- Makes mechanical repairs and adjustments to the equipment
- Diagnoses complex mechanical defects or breakdowns and performs corrective maintenance
- Performs high-level preventive maintenance on multiple technologies and subassemblies
- Installs and commissions manufacturing and packaging equipment
- Performs complex mechanical interventions on equipment such as format changes and equipment modifications
- Performs all quality checks and tests as described in standard work instructions
- Orders and verifies materials, verifies production specifications, orders parts, enters work history, monitors and responds to KPI data prompts, sets up machine for various products through direct interaction with advanced Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Parts Ordering System(s) and Document Management System, and other computer applications as appropriate
- Works at heights up to 10 feet from the ground
Requirements
- Experience working in a tobacco cigarette manufacturing or supporting environment with mechanical/electrical mechanical capability to perform high-level mechanical interventions
- Computer Skills (including Microsoft Systems)
- WorkKeys – Applied Math (Level 4), Workplace Documents (Level 5), Graphics Literacy (Level 4)
- Operate industrial vehicles and powered lifts
Beneficial
- Industrial Systems Technology – A.A.S., Mechanical Engineering Technology – A.A.S., Mechatronics Engineering Technology – A.A.S., or A.A.S. degree in a related field or military equivalent
- SAP/CMMS application skills
- Understanding of and ability to perform root cause analysis
- Effective communication skills, both written and oral, at all levels within the organization and with external vendors
