We provide total building system design and construction services across multiple high-growth markets for industry leaders in mission-critical, higher education, sports, healthcare, grocery, restaurant, and retail sectors. Our mechanical engineers also play a key role in supporting the firm’s growing refrigeration design needs, delivering innovative solutions across these sectors. Within each sector, we integrate engineering expertise with the in-the-field experience of our sister company, Henderson Building Solutions, to deliver a client experience unlike any other in the industry.
About the Role
As a mid- to experienced-level Mechanical Engineer specializing in HVAC design at Henderson Engineers, you will contribute your expertise to projects across six sectors: Business, Community, Grocery & Distribution, Health, Retail, and Venue. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile projects for some of the biggest names in the industry while collaborating with a team of passionate employee-owners.
Responsibilities
- Perform calculations and design basic to advanced engineering systems with a high degree of independence.
- Prepare mechanical system layouts, detailed drawings, and schematics.
- Review shop drawings for conformance to plans and specifications.
- Perform research and make recommendations on the feasibility of systems or equipment; evaluate products for their application.
- Assist in developing, establishing, and maintaining relationships with strategic partners and customers to support business development.
- Proactively seek opportunities for continuous learning and understanding of industry software, including Revit, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office Products.
- Support or lead project coordination activities, such as managing emails, coordinating scope and schedule, attending client meetings, ensuring project quality, and responding to client questions.
- Act as a resource for training or assisting others as needed.
Requirements
Mid-Level (II)
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of engineering (e.g., mechanical, electrical, fire protection, or architectural) preferred, with 3 years of relevant experience, or 5 years of experience without a degree.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license may count toward 1 year of direct experience.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Bluebeam Revu.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and HVAC design software (e.g., IESVE, Trane Trace).
Experienced Level (III)
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of engineering (e.g., mechanical, electrical, fire protection, or architectural) preferred, with 7 years of relevant experience, or 9 years of experience without a degree.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license may count toward 1 year of direct experience.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Bluebeam Revu.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and HVAC design software (e.g., IESVE, Trane Trace).
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineering (PE) license.
- Completion of FE exam, LEED, and/or WELL accreditation.
- Advanced knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, A&E industry standards, codes, design guides, and applicable practices.
Pay
Individual salaries may vary based on factors unrelated to the applicant’s race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, ethnicity, age, or disability. Geographic cost-of-labor differentials may also apply. The following ranges reflect base salary estimates for this role:
- Denver: $83,600 to $145,200
- Las Vegas: $92,400 to $119,700
- Los Angeles: $88,160 to $153,120
- New York: $92,720 to $161,040
- Washington DC: $88,160 to $153,120
