About the role
The Equipment Inspector position within the Division of Equipment (DOE) supports the Quality Assurance Branch. Under the supervision of a Senior Equipment Engineer, the incumbent assists in the daily operations of the Quality Assurance Branch.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the inspection of new highway maintenance equipment and vehicles purchased by Caltrans for the Quality Assurance Branch.
- Assist in inspecting and testing equipment to ensure compliance with equipment purchasing specifications and drawings and operational functionality.
- Avoidance of non-compliance by reviewing and evaluating contract specifications and designs, as well as purchase order documents.
- Prepare analytical work as assigned to ensure compliance with equipment purchasing specifications and drawings and operational functionality.
- Support the other inspectors and make continuous improvement recommendations.
- Extensive travel within the state, with occasional out-of-state travel.
Requirements
This is the entry and first working level of the series. The position requires possession of a valid driver's license and extensive travel within the state, with occasional out-of-state travel.
Qualifications
To be eligible, candidates must possess the Minimum Qualifications as outlined in the Classification Specification. These qualifications include a valid driver's license and possession of a Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
