Mechanical Technician I

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician I to join our team and play a key role in maintaining the reliability of our pipeline systems. The ideal candidate thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and timely repairs on pipeline system equipment to minimize downtime and throughput loss.
• Maintain, inspect, and troubleshoot mechanical systems including pumps, valves, mixers, seals, motors, fans, and measurement equipment.
• Ensure all work complies with regulatory requirements, company O&M procedures, and DOT regulations.
• Develop and execute lock-out/tag-out procedures and open-system job plans to ensure safe maintenance practices.
• Respond as a first responder during emergency situations and participate in required safety and technical training programs, including OQ certifications.
• Use maintenance management systems (e.g., Maximo) to document work, track equipment history, and support planning activities.
• Collaborate with technicians, supervisors, and operations teams to plan, schedule, and execute maintenance and improvement work efficiently.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 1 year experience in industrial mechanical maintenance
• Excellent trouble shooting ability
• Good interpersonal skills
• Able to work independently with limited supervision
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Effective computer skills
• Valid driver’s license & good driving record
• Must live (or relocate) within 25 miles of the reporting location

Preferred

• Completion of an approved mechanical apprenticeship program or 2 year mechanical technical/vocational degree
• Experience in maintenance of crude oil pipeline, tank farm or delivery facilities or certified technical designation
• Familiarity with pertinent equipment (pumps, motors, valves, switchgear, programmable logic controls, motor control centers and instrumentation)

Pay

Ranges from $29.25 to $41.00 USD per hour for US locations based upon candidate’s experience, skills, and internal equity. Applicable compensation policies and guidelines apply to internal candidates.
