About the role
The Mechanical Engineer will provide engineering support and leadership in the planning, design, and technical execution of projects and tasks for the Institutional Services at the NASA Glenn Research Center, Neil A. Armstrong Test Facility in Sandusky, Ohio.
Responsibilities
- Provides technical expertise and guidance in the overall planning and execution of projects in assigned institutional areas.
- Plays a key role in planning, coordination, and support of maintenance activities.
- Manages an assigned project by developing detailed project plans and schedules with task lists, durations, and assignment of resources.
- Generates work instructions to technical staff via task orders or other approved means and reports to contractor and customer management.
- Supports large-and-small scale institutional projects including data analysis, writing specifications, creating standards, and final report generation.
Requirements
- Must have a Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of drawing interpretation and 5 years' experience in mechanical engineering.
- Ability to utilize GPS and GDIS mapping systems, including underground utility drawings and topographical mapping knowledge.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, such as Word and Excel, and a computerized maintenance management system.
