About the Role
Textron Systems is seeking a full-time Mechanical Engineer with experience in mechanical design focused on military applications. The candidate should possess strong communication and presentation skills and be comfortable interacting with suppliers within a multidisciplinary team. This position requires experience integrating component design solutions into an overall assembly. The candidate must be a U.S. citizen with or capable of receiving a secret-level security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the detailed design of structural components.
- Serve as a team member responsible for the development and design integration of mechanical components and systems.
- Create Technical Data Packages, including 3D drawings, specifications, and materials lists for mechanical and electro-mechanical applications.
- Prepare and direct high-quality mechanical and electro-mechanical detail and assembly drawings.
- Transition product design to production and test.
- Write technical and proposal documents.
- Create detailed design reports and presentations to summarize design/analysis results.
Requirements
- Comfortable designing mechanical components and systems subjected to extreme hypersonic flight conditions.
- Experience in packaging design of electronics systems and interconnects, development of interface control documents, and designing for manufacturing and assembly techniques.
- Proficiency in CAD design using 3D digital product development tools and understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
- Demonstrated participation in mechanical and structure design team activities leading to a qualified aeroshell design capable of reacting to high loading and thermal gradient conditions.
- Experience designing high-temperature parts, accounting for thermal strain in tightly toleranced pressurized parts, and familiarity with various material types and joining methods.
- Experience with high external operating pressures and accelerations.
- Skilled use of 3D digital manufacturing information to influence design definition options (preferably Siemens solutions) for manufacturable detailed assemblies and material schedules under configuration management.
- Ability to generate product performance specifications, mass property summary reports, and detailed design summary technical reports.
- Demonstrated Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) skills (a plus).
- Proficiency in Siemens’ Mechanical Design Manufacturing and Product Lifecycle Management Digital Integration Model (NX, Teamcenter), including product specification development, surface finish and material specification via PMP, written design detailed documentation, presentation, and proposal preparation.
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering.
- 2+ years’ experience in a related field for Level II, 5+ years for Level III.
- Possesses or has the ability to obtain a Secret-level security clearance.
Pay
- Level II: $92,600–$139,500
- Level III: $115,800–$176,200
