Join our team and discover why we are a top veteran employer and Certified Great Place to Work™ Join our Team Supporting the Air Force Research Laboratory ASRC Federal Systems Solutions, a subsidiary of ASRC Federal, is seeking Mechanical Engineering Technicians (Levels II & III) to support the ASTROS Contract at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Edwards Air Force Base, California. In this role, you'll support the assembly, maintenance, and testing of advanced propulsion systems that contribute to our nation's defense. We're looking for hands-on mechanical professionals who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and solving complex technical challenges. Hiring level will be based on education, experience, and qualifications. What You'll Do Support propulsion system assembly, maintenance, and test operations.Perform solid rocket propellant mixing, casting, sample preparation, and test execution while maintaining quality and safety standards.Support X-ray operations and other specialized testing activities.Operate, inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain mechanical systems, equipment, and test hardware.Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.Repair and maintain mechanical components, including pumps, valves, tubing, and related equipment.Operate heavy equipment such as cranes, loaders, backhoes, and forklifts.Bend and flare tubing and install aerospace fittings and connectors.Complete assigned work with minimal supervision while providing status updates to project leadership.Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with all safety and quality requirements.Support overtime, alternate shifts, and mission-critical test schedules as needed. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent.Experience will determine placement:Mechanical Engineering Technician II: 0–3 years of related mechanical, manufacturing, industrial maintenance, aerospace, propulsion, or technical experience.Mechanical Engineering Technician III: 4–6 years of related experience.Experience operating and maintaining mechanical equipment and systems.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.Experience using standard mechanical hand tools and shop equipment.Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.Experience operating heavy equipment such as cranes, forklifts, loaders, or backhoes.Experience repairing mechanical components, including pumps, valves, tubing, and related equipment.Experience bending tubing and installing aerospace fittings/connectors.Excellent communication and customer service skills.Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.Ability to obtain access to customer computer systems.Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting solid rocket propellant mixing and testing operations.Welding experience.Experience supporting aerospace, propulsion, defense, or industrial test operations. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.Ability to work outdoors in the Mojave Desert in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.Ability to work at heights and below-grade locations.Willingness to work overtime and alternate shifts with limited notice.
