Applicants must be at least nineteen (19) years of age, have successfully completed the training program at the Mississippi Department of Corrections or an equivalent program approved by the department, and meet minimum qualifications for promotional opportunities after 6 months of service. Employees under twenty-one (21) will be assigned to non-peace officer status posts.
