Mazak Integrex Machinist (Level 3)
About the Role
The Prototype Fabrication (PF) Division is seeking qualified Mazak Integrex machinists to provide machining support for the fabrication of components vital to the Lab's mission. PF machinists manufacture parts and assemblies by programming, setting up, and operating manual and CNC mills, lathes, and wire EDM machines. Machinists work from complex drawings, sketches, and CAD models to produce intricate parts from common and exotic materials with precise tolerances. The selected candidate will work in a team environment within both classified and unclassified areas, serving a variety of internal and external customers at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate Mazak Integrex CNC machine tools to produce high-difficulty parts with tight tolerances.
- Develop machining processes, including fixturing and tooling design and selection.
- Create and apply G&M code for CNC machine operation.
- Perform precision measurements using tools such as calipers, micrometers, and verniers.
- Manufacture complex parts from diverse materials in accordance with detailed specifications.
- Collaborate effectively within a team and adhere to safety guidelines in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree (AAS) in Machining Technologies or equivalent precision metalworking program and 4 years of related experience; OR 6 years of prototype experience; OR Journeyperson qualification program and 4 years of experience.
- Demonstrated experience in the setup and operation of Mazak Integrex CNC machines.
- Proficiency in applied shop mathematics.
- Ability to create and apply G&M code for CNC operations.
- Experience with basic precision measurements and inspection tools.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Commitment to safety and dependability in an industrial environment.
Desired Qualifications
- CAD/CAM experience, preferably with Solidworks and MasterCam.
- Experience interpreting and applying Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5 standard.
Work Location
This position is onsite in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Security & Eligibility
This position requires a Q clearance, which entails a background investigation and U.S. citizenship (except in extremely rare circumstances).
