About the Role

Coordinate the receipt, storage, and distribution of all materials while supporting the Plant Material Manager in effectively managing material flows to meet production requirements and capacity constraints.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience; wood-related industry preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of supervision experience across multiple departments
• Minimum of 2 years of experience using computer-based material management and proven proficiency with MRP systems
• Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Business, or related discipline; extensive work experience with APICS certification may be considered in lieu of education
• Lean training is a plus

Skills

• Excellent personal computer skills in a network environment; Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel) preferred
• Extensive Access experience is a plus
• Track record of successful project management
• Experience working in a team environment
• Management style consistent with CITE Principles
• Strong planning, organization, and time management skills
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business and technical documents
• Ability to develop and deliver presentations to production teams, plant-level teams, or public groups

• Strong reasoning ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form

Responsibilities

• Accurately account for all materials, ensuring accuracy meets threshold levels
• Oversee all material transactions to ensure accuracy and timeliness
• Supply the Plant Material Manager with accurate information related to materials, MUV, cycle count, and scrap/salvage opportunities
• Ensure required materials are available and in acceptable condition for internal and external clients
• Manage cycle counts and reconcile differences
• Plan and coordinate department activities to support SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) targets and meet or exceed client expectations
• Actively participate in assigned teams, projects, and kaizens
• Ensure assigned departments perform tasks as outlined in job instruction breakdowns, quality specifications, and standard operating practices
• Manage kanban with usage evaluation quarterly and implement changes
• Read and understand AWC specifications and drawings
• Be proficient in Excel and Access
• Participate in identifying hiring needs, employee selection, and training processes
• Provide communication on departmental expectations, motivate team members, and identify opportunities for improvement
• Provide team leadership consistent with company vision, mission, and CITE principles
• Ensure policies are followed and provide guidance and discipline
• Develop and maintain relationships with AWC clients and providers
• Effectively utilize all resources to maximize performance and achieve SQDC goals
• Establish individual goals for team members aligned with overall organizational goals and perform periodic performance reviews
• Support and represent the company as a union-free environment
• Provide a safe and productive work environment, including housekeeping
• Participate in the identification and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives
• Role model CITE and Working in Teams principles
• Perform other tasks as directed by a direct supervisor

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Supervise hourly and salaried employees in assigned departments
• Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of direct reports
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work
• Appraise performance, reward and discipline employees, and address complaints and resolve problems

• Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms
• Occasionally required to lift up to 20 pounds
