Job Summary
The Supervisor Rotating Equipment is responsible for direct supervision, development, and performance of the Maintenance Mechanics and planning and executing rotating equipment maintenance work for assigned operational units in the refinery.
Principle Responsibilities
- Supervise, plan, and direct the execution of maintenance work according to daily schedule while working with other work groups in the refinery to ensure safe and efficient completion of maintenance activities.

- Identify and effectively communicate performance expectations to craft personnel.
- Lead safety discussions and demonstrate leadership behavior that reinforces company safety policies.
- Lead morning kickoff meetings and assign work to Maintenance Mechanics.
- Identify and act on opportunities to raise productivity of craft workers through various means such as multi-crafting or specialized skills.
- Identify and communicate specific craft knowledge deficiencies and report to Execution Superintendent.
- Clearly set and drive expectations of hourly staff and communicate concerns or issues with Maintenance Superintendent.
- Document first start delays in delay report form and communicate with AMC’s and Maintenance Execution Superintendent.
- Performs planning functions for rotating equipment within the machine shop including preparing work scope and estimates and repair costs and establishing the labor, tools, materials and equipment required for work requests including preparing drawing sketches, bid packages, specifications, procedures, and related information.
- Utilize job package feedback to improve future planning.
- Maintain effective communications and coordinate day-to-day or job-to-job tasks and readiness with other Maintenance supervisors.
- Organize Confined Space pre-plan meeting when responsible crafts is the primary craft for confined space work.
- Attend daily maintenance update and overtime meeting at request of Maintenance Execution Superintendent.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Fosters a positive working environment that is inclusive and respectful of all, supports the site and Company values and objectives, and models integrity and work commitment.
- Oversees designated area work activities during unit turnarounds and outages and reports to Turnaround Supervision.
- Assists craftsperson in solving complex equipment problems. Provides a high level of troubleshooting skills.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline plus 4 years of experience working in a maintenance environment in lieu of engineering degree must possess a minimum of 8 years of experience working in a maintenance environment.
- 3+ years’ supervisory or process management experience required, preferably in a union environment.
- Preference given to individuals with experience in a refinery/petrol chemical environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
- Hard trade experience/certification is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft office suite required.
- SAP experience preferred.
- Must be able to respond to 24/7 call ins, work rotating shifts including holidays, weekends, and meet all scheduling requirements.
