About the role

As the Materials Coordinator you will receive, store, and issue materials, equipment, and other items from stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards. You will maintain inventory records and compile stock reports in a shop-type environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist or direct other stockroom, warehouse, or storage-yard workers.
  • Maintain inventory of stock by parts and units for each location and ensure accountability within the facility.
  • Receive and count stock items; record data using the Quantum System.
  • Determine proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and facility capabilities.
  • Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts; investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.
  • Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other areas.
  • Mark stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
  • Keep records on the use and/or damage of stock or stock-handling equipment; report damage to supervisors.
  • Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects; create discrepancy reports and return damaged or rejected parts to vendors.
  • Process receipts, scan, and file paperwork; deliver goods to appropriate departments.
  • Expedite materials and inventory as needed; maintain and provide daily receipt reports.
  • Train and assume backup responsibilities for other employees when needed.
  • Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards.
  • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Perform regular cycle counts and investigate inaccuracies.
  • Field inventory sales parts quotes and pull/verify trace paperwork for sales requests.
  • Support and explain reasoning for decisions; observe all safety and security procedures.
  • Use equipment and materials properly; report potentially unsafe conditions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years of successful stockroom, receiving, and inspection experience.
  • Proven team player with excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Well-developed problem-solving and solid organizational skills.
  • Ability to be self-directed and effectively relate to all levels of the organization.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Quantum is a plus.
  • Hazardous Material Training is a plus.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multitask, and meet deadlines.
  • Hands-on individual with the ability to see the big picture; strong business judgment and ethical work habits.
  • Ability to interact positively and professionally to develop and maintain strong working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, vendors, and customers.
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on quality and accuracy; customer-focused and results-oriented.
  • Must read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem-solving situations.
  • Makes decisions in a timely manner, includes appropriate people in the decision-making process, and exhibits sound and accurate judgment.

Working Conditions

  • Work is conducted mostly indoors in a “shop” type environment.
  • Exposure to heat or cold is limited to walking between buildings or when bay doors are open for shipping and receiving.
  • Use of PPE such as safety glasses and safety-toed shoes is required in designated areas.

  • Must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Regularly required to walk, talk, or hear; frequently required to stand, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to sit.
  • May regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds using pneumatic and manual lifting devices.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Other

Due to contracts with the United States Government, the candidate must be either a U.S. citizen or a Green Card holder. No travel or relocation is available for this position.

Pay

Hourly position with a salary range of $50,000 to $60,000 USD per year. The actual salary offered will be based on experience, skills, qualifications, market/business considerations, and geographic location.
