Material Handler - 2nd Shift

About the role

Zatarain's, a leader in New Orleans cuisine owned by McCormick, is seeking a Material Handler on the 2nd Shift (2:30pm-11pm, Mon-Fri) at its facility located in Gretna, Louisiana. McCormick & Company, Incorporated is a global leader in flavor with $4 billion in annual sales, manufacturing, marketing and distributing spices, seasoning mixes, condiments and other flavorful products to the entire food industry.

Responsibilities

• Work with dock personnel to insure effective operation of shipping dock activities
• Receive inbound finished goods from co-packers and off site storage facilities and perform required inventory control transactions
• Work with dock personnel to complete outbound loading orders
• Complete and process required inventory control transactions according to company/department standards including scanning and printing tickets with barcode equipment
• Transport and store materials in a neat and orderly manner
• Perform daily housekeeping duties in the warehouse areas including sweeping, collecting trash and collecting damaged product
• Operate equipment in a safe manner and insure the equipment is in good working order by checking and reporting equipment problems
• Follow all safety and Good Manufacturing guidelines
• Work in other jobs positions under Materials Management as needed
• Accurately enters information into the time clock to record cost center changes, time in and time out

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
• Must be familiar with Microsoft Windows
• Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally
• Must successfully complete safety courses and obtain OSHA certification
• One year background in a warehouse environment preferred
• Must have the ability to read, write and perform simple math calculations
• Must be able to communicate effectively and work well with others
• Must be able to work in a dusty environment with strong odors
• Must be detail oriented and have the ability to follow established procedures
• Must have common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form
• Must be able to work overtime on a frequent basis and on weekends as required by scheduling/production demands
