Material Handler - 2nd Shift

Summary

Performs a variety of activities involved in the overall running of the production facility. Primary responsibilities include monitoring the slitter support group, maintaining safety and quality, and following the finishing schedule.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Identify each individual roll coming off the slitter with the proper pre-designated number representing the web location.
• Carry out all verbal and written instructions.
• Completes all paperwork and data entry accurately.
• Pick/Pack orders as needed for operating and shipping.
• Maintains safety and quality while performing tasks efficiently and productively.
• Monitors deviations in materials and running conditions; makes corrections with crew assistance; and reports deviations to proper supervisor.
• Participates in following environmental, safety, and housekeeping standards and regulations.
• Participates in 5S activities as assigned.
• Maintain clean workstation.
• Assists in preparation and packaging.
• Performs other duties as required, including assisting in preparation and packaging.

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Previous experience supporting a manufacturing facility preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication, excellent computer skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize work requirements, and attention to detail are essential.

Education And/or Experience

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of each machine station prior to obtaining helper status.
• Willingness and availability to train on all Finishing equipment.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time without sitting.
• Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, lift, or crawl.
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Equipment

• Must maintain and account for assigned tools and equipment.
• Must have a valid Forklift Operator's license or pass required training.
