About the role

Responsible for implementing production schedules and ensuring actual production meets scheduled requirements. Controls load factors to maximize usage of available capacity and resources. Coordinates production operations across departmental and functional lines to align with finished product requirements and material/labor needs.

Responsibilities

  • Uses the MRP system to release customer orders and open work orders to schedule procurement and manufacturing activities.
  • Prepares production analysis data, job and machine load forecasts, labor usage forecasts, and spares forecasts based on orders available to ship.
  • Monitors actual versus scheduled production performance and on-time delivery, preparing completion reports.
  • Takes necessary actions to eliminate delays and ensure adherence to production and shipping schedules.
  • Inputs transactions on shop paper and records respective variances.
  • Manages inventory levels, accuracy, past due work orders, and operations in the applicable area.
  • Works with the purchasing department to ensure adequate material flow.
  • Interacts with other departments to develop records for production planning and control.
  • Collaborates with the product team to meet targets for inventory turns and amounts.
  • Provides training and support to the product team to meet established goals and objectives.
  • Contributes to Relentless Continuous Improvement (RCI) by identifying new or better ways to improve scheduling processes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Proficiency in basic mathematical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and experience using Syteline or a similar MRP system.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to walk.
  • Occasionally required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Work Environment

  • Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and outside weather conditions.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
