Control Specialist

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide variety of duties related to machinery maintenance, with a focus on electrical and control system wiring and troubleshooting.
• Program, repair, and perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on equipment and drives to ensure safe operation, production, and quality.
• Troubleshoot and repair drives, PLCs, VFDs, and control systems on various equipment.
• Source and order parts for obsoleted systems.
• Document all maintenance activities performed, including installation and validation of equipment.
• Support other groups such as Engineering, Process, QA, Safety, and Facilities in resolving problems, improvements, and investigations.
• Recommend and implement improvements and technological advancements for plant equipment and manufacturing processes.
• Participate in decision-making regarding specifications, testing, installation, and validation of new or replacement systems.
• Train and guide team members on controls aspects and upgrades.
• Assist in rebuilds, retrofits, and machine component upgrades as per specifications.
• Perform installation, replacement, or decommissioning of equipment, including necessary validations.
• Identify and locate parts in the stock room using MP2 or similar systems.
• Participate in company programs such as Continuous Improvement (CI), Safety initiatives, Audits, and investigations.
• Support projects and improvement initiatives from Engineering, Process, QA, Safety, and Operations groups.
• Document daily tasks in the maintenance log before the end of each shift.
• Maintain confidentiality of all corporate or plant information.
• Use good housekeeping practices to maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area.
• Upgrade technical skills through educational workshops and on-site or off-site training.
• Conform to all regulations, policies, work procedures, instructions, and safety rules.
• Exhibit regular, reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required; AS Degree or Certification preferred.
• Excellent electrical/electronic and PLC troubleshooting skills on various platforms; some programming skills preferred.
• Thorough understanding of machine operability and mechanical assemblies.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
• Available for overtime, self-starter, team player, and ability to work independently.
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive maintenance and leadership experience (may substitute for educational requirements).
• Experience with FDA regulations related to Facilities, Maintenance, and Equipment repair.
• Experience in plastic injection and/or medical device manufacturing preferred.
• Experience managing projects and with automation systems.

Skills

• Programming skills for VFDs and PLCs.
• Knowledge of utility maintenance, including boilers, chillers, and compressors.
• Proficiency with CMMS and MS Office.
• Certification in one or more key building trades is a plus.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 7:15 AM - 2:30 PM.

Physical Requirements

Medium-exerting: Up to 50lb/22kg of force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs/9kg of force frequently, and/or up to 10lbs/4kgs of force constantly to move objects.

Travel Requirements: Up to 10% (approximately 26 business days per year).
