About the role
This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining a harmonious working relationship with various stakeholders including direct supervisors, seniors, health plan representatives, employer groups, brokers, providers, and their staff for Bakersfield Family Medical Group (BFMG) and/or Coastal Communities Physician Network (CCPN).
Responsibilities
- Maintain and demonstrate superior knowledge/ability of HMO benefits and procedures.
- BFMG and/or CCPN’s protocols and procedures.
- Familiarity of backgrounds of medical staff at BFMG and/or CCPN and the IPA network.
- Presenting philosophy and protocols of BFMG and/or CCPN to existing and prospective clients in a positive and persuasive manner.
- Knowledge of services/physicians of competitor medical groups in Kern County and/or the San Luis Obispo County area.
- Develop and sustain positive working relationships with health plan representatives, community leaders, organizations, and entities, employer groups, and initiate visits with their key personnel.
- Attend, organize and/or facilitate marketing events such as broker events, senior activities, Taco Tuesday & Tours, Senior Expo, Medicare 101s, in-house Health Benefit meetings, and open enrollment events.
- Keep Administration informed of complaints/criticisms and changes to health plans enrollment activity.
- Aid members and potential members with information on insurance plans, special events, and resolutions regarding client concerns.
- Provide consultative services to clients as appropriate to the needs and interest of the clients and BFMG and/or CCPN.
- Work effectively with the marketing department to promote lines of business, clinics, contracts, and business practices in the community.
- Assist in developing and preparing various corporate and/or health plan required reports, which may include network analysis.
- Assist the Marketing Rep/Account Manager at BFMG or CCPN, respectively, when needed or when time allows.
- Maintain and order promotional material inventory and department stock.
- Work as both provider advocate and plan representative by developing and facilitating healthcare delivery networks, resolving issues, and providing continued support for providers and staff.
- Answer provider questions, identify and evaluate problems, and communicate resolutions in a timely manner.
- Conduct group or individual provider orientation or follow-up sessions with both prospective and existing provider groups.
- Assist with periodic provider satisfaction surveys.
- Prepare monthly reports detailing activity of HMO enrollment.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in a professional manner with clients, members, providers, and staff.
- Help facilitate updates to the internet site for BFMG and/or CCPN, within 48-hours of provider addition or termination of provider, group, or service.
- Prioritize workload; providing a high level of customer service when on the phone and in person, and using time management skills to accomplish all job duties in an effective and efficient manner.
- Willing to work at any company location or department, depending on business needs (if driving for the company then employee must provide current CDL and Auto Insurance).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration preferred.
- One (1) year of experience with extensive public contact and/or public speaking is preferred.
- One (1) year of public contact or sales experience may be substituted for one (1) year of college.
- Experience in health care, preferable with Medicare, preferred.
- Insurance license, Accident & Health or Sickness, preferred.
- Proficient with computer programs.
- Experience in working with seniors (65+).
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Must have a valid California Driver's License and current vehicle insurance.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Able to work as a team player and independently.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Qualifications

- Experience in health care, preferable with Medicare, preferred.

Pay
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $33.02 and $38.85. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
