Marketing Engineer, Brokerage Growth ($145k-$190k + Equity) at Withshepherd
Withshepherd.com is a $60M+ funded, AI-native commercial insurance platform transforming high-hazard industries. Backed by top-tier investors like Spark Capital, Costanoa Ventures, and Y Combinator, we recently closed a $42M Series B to build autonomous underwriting infrastructure that replaces manual workflows with agentic AI models for the physical world.
About the role
As the first dedicated marketing hire for the brokerage channel, you will build and own the growth engine from the ground up. You will blend demand generation with technical engineering, using AI coding tools to ship site experiments, ABM programs, and lifecycle automation. It is a high-impact role driving submissions through a digitally underdeveloped market.
Location: New York City and San Francisco, USA
Why this role is remarkable
- Join a well-funded Series B startup at the intersection of AI and insurance, a massive underserved market ripe for disruption by autonomous underwriting.
- Enjoy high autonomy as the first marketing hire for this channel, reporting directly to the Head of Marketing with the power to shape the growth stack.
- Work in an AI-pilled environment where you are encouraged to build your own tools and automate complex workflows using Cursor and Claude Code.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end paid media and ABM strategy, designing audience-specific campaigns that convert broker activations into high-value insurance submissions.
- Build and maintain the technical growth stack, including outbound infrastructure, signal-based lifecycle triggers, and marketing automation to orchestrate broker touchpoints.
- Optimize the conversion funnel by shipping landing pages, structured data for AI search, and experimentation frameworks to increase lead velocity.
Requirements
- 4-8 years of experience in growth marketing or demand generation at a fast-moving B2B startup, preferably within fintech or insurtech.
- Growth Engineer mindset, actively using AI coding tools like Cursor or Claude Code to build technical marketing solutions without engineering support.
- High agency and a bias toward action, with a track record of running data-driven experiments and building attribution systems from scratch.
