About the School of Information Technology

The School of Information Technology (SoIT) is a national leader in studying solutions and needs that connect people, information, and the technology of the time. The SoIT is home to Ohio's first Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Information Technology. In addition, it is home to Ohio's first ABET accredited Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity.

The SoIT has been growing at 15% annually and currently serves more than 1,550 students with 33 full-time faculty members, 38 full-time staff, and 39 adjunct faculty. The SoIT is home to several centers including an NSA/DHS Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense, the Information Technology Solutions Center, the Ohio Cyber Range Institute, Applied Machine Learning and Intelligence Center, and the Civic Technology Lab. In 2017, the SoIT launched the Early IT as a collaborative ecosystem among educational institutions and industry to significantly advance the readiness of the state’s information technology talent.

About the Ohio Cyber Range Institute

The Ohio Cyber Range Institute (OCRI), housed at the University of Cincinnati, is a partnership among state agencies and academic institutions led by UC, the Ohio Adjutant General and Cyber Ohio. OCRI’s mission is to advance cybersecurity education, workforce, and economic development. OCRI administers the Ohio Cyber Range as a state-wide tool that supports programming for K-20 courses and events; full-spectrum training opportunities, including incident response teams; industry workforce and economic development; cyber security research; as well as government agency support among other programs.

Job Overview

The School of Information Technology at the University of Cincinnati seeks to hire a Marketing Coordinator for the Ohio Cyber Range Institute to support all OCRI programs including the Ohio Persistent Cyber Improvement for Local Government Project (O-PCI), funded by the State of Ohio through a U.S. Department of Homeland Security Cyber and Infrastructure Security Agency State and Local Cyber Improvement Grant.

Essential Functions

  • Develop, coordinate, implement, and revise marketing plans and promotional materials.
  • Develop customer and department profiles; plan ads and media mix.
  • Assess, develop, and coordinate public relations campaigns.
  • Monitor, track and evaluate results; recommend changes.
  • Compile, update, and report marketing data related to advertising and marketing programs.
  • Affiliate with the design, layout and writing of print and digital assets.
  • Prepare/submit for approval budget and quarterly revision.
  • Recommend cost containment proposals where applicable.
  • Cook up, coordinate/evaluate bidding process regarding advertising and promotional materials.
  • Determine program schedules, deadlines, etc.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental needs.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Education, Graphic Arts, Liberal Arts, Marketing, or related field.
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

  • One (1) year of experience in development and implementation of marketing and/or advertising plans.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Experience supporting regional or state-wide initiatives similar to the Ohio Cyber Range Institute.
  • Experience creating short form marketing videos.
  • Experience in promoting educational, government, and workforce development information.
  • Experience in using modern communication channels.
  • Understanding the administrative functions, academic programs, and requirements of a university.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Office Applications such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite Application.
