Marketing$97k–$103k/yrFull-time

Chinatown Community Development Center (Chinatown CDC) is a private non-profit founded in 1977 with a comprehensive vision of community. We own and/or manage approximately 36 affordable housing buildings serving over 4,500 low-income seniors, single adults, formerly homeless adults, and families across San Francisco’s Chinatown, Tenderloin, Western Addition, and Polk Gulch neighborhoods. Our work includes building housing, developing grassroots leadership, and engaging low-income residents and youth.

About the role

The Manager of Marketing & Communications implements the Director’s strategic vision into well-run campaigns, content, and day-to-day operations, executing the full range of marketing communications (marcom) production work. This role bridges strategy and hands-on delivery: you will help build the annual marcom plan into concrete projects, manage timelines and budgets, and produce and oversee content across print, web, video, social media, and press/media channels. You will partner closely with the Director on brand, storytelling, and media strategy while representing marcom in coordination with programs, development, and community outreach.

This is a full-time, exempt, regular position based in San Francisco’s Chinatown neighborhood. Hybrid work is eligible, with core hours Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Salary range: $97,375 - $102,500, with comprehensive benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Execution & Project Management: Translate the Director’s marcom strategy and editorial calendar into detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets; manage day-to-day execution across print, web, video, social media, and press/media initiatives.
  • Content Production: Handle copywriting, data collection, and analysis; produce content for print, web, video, and press/media; implement and execute all social media initiatives. Develop templates and content aligned with Chinatown CDC’s brand guidelines for staff, board, and committee use.
  • Content & Campaigns: Lead production of fundraising materials, annual reports, e-news, website updates, social media content, photo/video/multimedia projects, and marketing collateral across all channels.
  • Brand Stewardship: Uphold and enforce Chinatown CDC’s brand guidelines; flag inconsistencies and support staff training on messaging.
  • Media & PR Support: Support the Director’s media strategy by maintaining the media archive, drafting press releases and talking points, and assisting with media events and crisis-communications logistics.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Track performance across channels (engagement, reach, campaign results) and provide regular reporting to inform strategy.
  • Vendor & Budget Support: Assist in managing relationships with consultants, vendors, and freelancers; track marcom budget spending against plan.
  • Strategic Planning: Partner with the Director to shape the annual marcom strategy and calendar, contributing insights on feasibility, timelines, and resourcing. Ensure campaigns and content align with Chinatown CDC’s identity, values, mission, and programmatic priorities.
  • Marketing & Communications: Act as a day-to-day storyteller and brand steward, producing and overseeing content that strengthens relationships with supporters and partners.
  • Project Management: Maintain and monitor project plans, schedules, and budgets; organize and participate in stakeholder meetings; prepare templates and assets for internal projects; provide administrative support as needed.
  • PR & Media Support: Support the Director and CEO in maintaining media relationships; execute the media strategy and toolkit; maintain the media archive; assist with media events, press releases, talking points, and crisis communications.
  • Advocacy: Package communications guidance, tools, and key messages for colleagues and external partners to support Chinatown CDC’s policy, advocacy, and narrative-change goals. Coordinate with partner organizations to ensure consistent messaging during coalition or joint advocacy campaigns.
  • Other: Embody organizational values (respect & compassion, empowerment, teamwork); contribute to a safe and pleasant work environment; follow policies, procedures, and safe work practices; perform other duties as assigned.
