Marketing & Communications Manager

About the role

The Humane Society of Central Oregon is seeking a Marketing & Communications Manager to connect our community with the animals and people we serve. Located in Bend, known for its scenic beauty and outdoor activities, the position involves storytelling and strategic planning to drive engagement and donations.

Responsibilities

• Develop communications plans supporting fundraising, events, adoptions, and community engagement
• Lead content across email, website, social media, print, and media, elevating impact stories that honor the dignity of animals, clients, donors, and volunteers
• Own website, email, and social strategy, using analytics to strengthen engagement and fundraising
• Serve as one of HSCO's spokespeople: give interviews, represent us at community events, manage media relationships, and draft press releases and crisis communications
• Scope, hire, and supervise a Digital Media Specialist

Requirements

• Four to six years in communications, marketing, public relations, or journalism
• Strong writing, editing, and project management skills across channels
• Congfident public speaking - comfortable with interviews and presentations
• Proficiency with email platforms, content management systems, social media, analytics, and basic design tools
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience
• Valid driver's license

Qualifications

• Curiosity about data and calm under pressure
• Comfortable building rather than maintaining
• As comfortable in front of people as behind a keyboard

Skills

• Proficiency with WordPress, donor CRMs, Google Analytics (GA4), or A/B testing
