Position Summary

Under moderate supervision, provides coordinating services in support of marketing, communications, reporting, and event activities for Research Development within Research & Innovation. Responsible for executing communications initiatives, coordinating digital and print materials, tracking engagement metrics, supporting professional development and signature recognition events, and maintaining systems that enhance the visibility and measurable impact of UTEP’s research enterprise.

Statement of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communications and Digital Engagement
    • Captures and distributes weekly bulletins, funding announcements, newsletters, and promotional communications.
    • Aids in drafting, editing, formatting, and layout of digital and print materials, including quarterly publications, reports, guides, and event materials, ensuring alignment with university branding standards.
    • Coordinates website updates and manages digital content in collaboration with campus partners.
    • Schedules, posts, and monitors social media content across approved platforms in alignment with divisional messaging.
    • Maintains editorial and content calendars to ensure timely, consistent delivery of communications.
  • Marketing Systems and Analytics
    • Tracks and maintains communications and engagement data, including email performance, website analytics, social media metrics, and event participation.
    • Maintains contact management systems, including data entry, segmentation, quality control, and reporting.
    • Assists with registration setup, tracking, and reporting for programs and events.
    • Prepares routine management and productivity reports related to communications, marketing, and event activities.
    • Aids in data collection and documentation to support the evaluation of communications effectiveness and event outcomes.
  • Event and Program Support
    • Captures logistical support for Research & Innovation events, including faculty and staff professional development programs and signature recognition events.
    • Aids in the coordination of events recognizing faculty achievements, including honorific distinctions, major grant awards, and research milestones.
    • Prepares event collateral (e.g., invitations, registration forms, flyers).
    • Supports vendor coordination, purchase requisitions, payment requests, and tracking of related expenditures.
    • Monitors assigned budgets and maintains expense documentation.
    • Aids in post-event documentation and summary reporting.
  • Administrative and Operational Support
    • Supports staff in Research Development to support marketing and communications objectives.
    • Manages divisional one-pagers development, publication, and distribution.
    • Coordinates the implementation of techniques for evaluating communications effectiveness.
    • Maintains organized records of communications materials, event documentation, and reports.
    • Identifies areas for operational improvement and provides recommendations to the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, Public Relations, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience: Four (4) years of related experience in marketing, communications, public relations, digital content management, event coordination, or related field.
