About the Role

Fuels the growth of key marketing and segments for SMART and SMART services in Southeast Michigan, focusing on rider acquisition and ROI. Elevates the market presence and position of the SMART brand through integrated brand marketing, digital marketing, advertising, event management, and marketing plan development and execution. Oversees multiple projects independently and works directly with leadership and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and measure strategic service line marketing plans and campaigns in collaboration with senior leadership.
  • Create and share routine performance reports with key stakeholders.
  • Identify market challenges and opportunities, integrating them into plans for assigned counties, departments, programs, and services.
  • Manage marketing activities for counties, departments, programs, and services.
  • Oversee the production of marketing materials, including print and digital content.
  • Work cross-functionally with team members and vendors on content development, campaign builds, and website updates.
  • Maintain an understanding of the organization’s market share and competitors.
  • Develop, implement, and track marketing performance metrics to ensure organizational success.
  • Apply consumer segmentation and targeting to craft resonating messaging and identify key consumer channels.
  • Collaborate with call-center and consumer engagement teams on local and regional initiatives.
  • Foster relationships and effective communication to support assigned areas, ensuring timely responses.
  • Participate in budget planning and management, identifying needed resources and vendors while adhering to budgets.
  • Lead the planning and execution of major consumer events and sponsorships.
  • Guide graphic design staff and internal clients in developing creative marketing and communication pieces while maintaining brand standards.
  • Create communication materials such as tool kits, brochures, presentations, handouts, invitations, and flyers.
  • Coordinate and lead multiple marketing committees.
  • Attend early morning, evening, or weekend meetings and events as needed.
  • Promote diversity in all marketing materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, communications, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of marketing experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Transportation or transit experience preferred.

Skills

  • Excellent strategy development, project management, problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of digital marketing platforms (CRM, email) and strategies (Google AdWords, SEO/SEM).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to model senior-level marketing skills and mentor team members.
  • Self-directed, proactive, and solution-oriented work approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-level projects simultaneously under deadlines.
  • Strong planning, organization, and prioritization skills in needs assessment, project management, budgeting, and tactical execution.
  • Working knowledge of customer channels and promotional techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of the healthcare service line environment; experience in service-line-focused marketing preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of market and customer research strategies and tools.
  • Strong skills in marketing collateral development.
  • Commitment to continuous quality improvement.
