Marketing & Communication Coordinator

About the role
Qualified candidates should have a strategic mindset and be able to manage competing deadlines, pivot quickly, and think strategically when it comes to promoting The Arc of Spokane’s programs. This position will conduct interviews; write feature stories; create, edit, and manage advertising; digital media; email and social media campaigns; and design print materials such as flyers, posters, brochures, and booklets.
This role is a multi-faceted opportunity with the responsibility of expanding the reach of The Arc’s presence in the Spokane community and furthering public knowledge about programs and initiatives of The Arc, all with the goal of amplifying the stories of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families.
Responsibilities
- Manage marketing and communications efforts for The Arc of Spokane
- Conduct interviews and write feature stories
- Create, edit, and manage advertising, digital media, email, and social media campaigns
- Design print materials such as flyers, posters, brochures, and booklets
- Gather photos, videos, and conduct interviews for social media and feature stories from multiple worksites
- Interact with the public, give presentations, and effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Marketing, Business, Public Relations, Communication, Journalism and/or 2-4 years of progressive non-profit, marketing, or communication experience
- Excellent and proven interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet shifting deadlines
- Experience in utilizing design software and programs (Canva, Adobe Premiere Suite, etc.) and website management (Squarespace)
- Ability to work independently and take initiative to solve problems creatively
- Donor and volunteer service mentality
- Excellent organizational skills
- Familiarity with digital media platforms and trends
- Flexible and adaptive work style with the ability to thrive in a progressive, mission-driven environment
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions arriving in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Willing to contribute to a work culture based upon respect, teamwork, and collaboration
- Must be 18 years of age
- High-school diploma or GED
- Must be able to successfully pass a Background Check
- Maintain personal transportation available for work-related use and valid driver’s license with proof of liability insurance
- Computer skills include MS Office, email, design software (Canva, Adobe InDesign, etc.), and social media platforms
Physical Demands
- Largely sedentary desk work with frequent standing, walking, and use of hands
- Ability to see, hear, speak, and touch
- Occasionally lift office products and supplies, event boxes, tables, and chairs that weigh 25-30 lbs
Schedule
This position is full-time, 40 hours per week. A typical schedule is Monday - Friday 8:30a - 5:00p but may flex to meet the needs of fundraisers and other special events. Some evenings and possible weekends occasionally.
Pay
$21.00 per hour, non-exempt.
