Marketing And Business Development Coordinator
About the Role
Road Map Consulting, LLC (RMC) is looking for a confident, outgoing Marketing & Business Development Coordinator to help grow our business by building relationships, connecting with prospective clients, and creating new opportunities across the Washington, DC government contracting community. This is a relationship-driven role, not primarily a social media position. Marketing and content creation will support your efforts, but the main focus is networking, generating qualified leads, and developing relationships that contribute to RMC's growth. You'll work closely with our leadership, Account Managers, MCM team, and digital marketing partner, with an opportunity to grow into an Account Manager role based on performance.
Responsibilities
- Represent RMC at 4–6 approved networking, GovCon, and business events each month across the DC/DMV area, actively connecting with business owners, decision-makers, and industry professionals.
- Identify prospective clients, initiate business conversations, and generate qualified leads for RMC's Account Managers.
- Build and maintain strategic referral relationships with GovCon firms, attorneys, accounting firms, industry associations, and other professional service providers.
- Follow up with new contacts, nurture relationships, and coordinate introductions and discovery meetings with our Account Managers.
- Research potential clients and identify opportunities to introduce RMC's federal contracting and consulting services.
- Support targeted B2B marketing and outreach campaigns designed to generate interest, build relationships, and attract new clients.
- Manage RMC's LinkedIn presence and other approved social channels, creating and sharing content that supports networking, lead generation, and business development.
- Coordinate one RMC webinar each month, including speakers, registration, promotion, logistics, and attendee follow-up.
- Support RMC's podcast, A View from The Perch, with guest coordination, scheduling, and promotion.
- Track leads, networking activities, follow-ups, and business development progress in Monday.com.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Live in the Washington, DC/DMV area and are available to attend local events and business meetings in person.
- Naturally outgoing, personable, and confident approaching new people and starting professional conversations.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with the initiative to identify opportunities and follow through without constant supervision.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to comfortably engage business owners, executives, and industry professionals.
- Understand B2B marketing, networking, lead generation, and relationship-building.
- Can represent RMC professionally and clearly communicate the value of our services to prospective clients.
- Understand how LinkedIn and other marketing channels can support business development.
- Organized, dependable, and comfortable using a CRM to manage contacts and follow-ups. Experience with Monday.com is a plus.
- Basic content creation skills using Canva or similar marketing tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience in business development, B2B marketing, professional networking, relationship management, or a related field.
- Experience generating qualified leads, developing referral partnerships, attending industry events, coordinating webinars, or supporting business growth within a professional services company.
- Familiarity with GSA Schedules, SAM.gov, small business programs, or the federal contracting community (advantageous but not required).
Success Metrics
Success in this role is measured by the quality of relationships you build and the business opportunities you help create, not simply the number of social media posts published or events attended. We want to see qualified leads, meaningful conversations with prospective clients, strong referral partnerships, and discovery meetings that our Account Managers can move forward. You'll begin by learning RMC's services, understanding our target clients, and developing the confidence to represent the company independently. For someone who consistently demonstrates initiative, strong relationship-building skills, and results, this position offers a path to becoming an Account Manager, with additional growth opportunities as RMC expands.
