About the role

As a Market Segment Manager (MSM), you'll own the development and execution of the adhesive, molding, and compounding segment roadmaps to achieve the goals of the North American Estane business. You will drive alignment and clarity across the organization in close partnership with sales and technical colleagues to deliver superior value to our customers and Lubrizol. You will be responsible for understanding current and future market dynamics, identifying areas for differentiation and associated value propositions, and executing both strategic and tactical actions for your segments.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research to understand “voice-of-customer” and competitive insights, analyze and segment end-use applications, maximize margin return to the business by executing robust go-to-market strategies, and drive innovation pipeline activities to address customer/market needs.
  • Leverage education and experience in product management, marketing, sales, technical service, and/or business development to create and execute Market Segment and Innovation roadmaps focused on profitable growth.
  • Analyze markets, prepare and execute business strategies, and quantitatively assess the customer and competitive landscape to develop a strategy for differentiation and sustainable growth, including identifying trends, requirements, unmet customer needs, demand landscape, and key opportunity areas.
  • Develop and implement best practices to enhance customer experience and work closely with the account and technical teams to create a winning approach, including sales tools, customer training and engagement, launch packages, and promotion material.
  • Demonstrate strong entrepreneurial drive, creativity, and business acumen by collecting and validating market and competitive intelligence to steer segment-specific profitability and growth targets, including lead generation and closure.
  • Act as innovation champion of your segment by utilizing communication skills and project management experience to lead product and business development initiatives through Phase Gate and other processes from ideation to successful product launch.
  • Utilize outstanding interpersonal skills and expert-level market knowledge to build impactful relationships with key customers, especially in marketing and innovation, and positively represent Lubrizol in trade shows and industry associations.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of building business strategies, go-to-market plans, and commercial acumen.
  • High degree of curiosity and drive to understand your segments' needs, value chain, and product innovation strategy.
  • Ability to translate customer needs into the organization and align these with Lubrizol’s capability to provide solutions.
  • Experience adapting style and approach with diverse, multinational customers.
  • Ability to develop new, creative business models and commercial arrangements to maximize value for Lubrizol.
  • Strong technical acumen in thermoplastic elastomers, specialty polymers, injection molding, adhesives, and/or compounding preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and emotional intelligence.
  • High level of self-responsibility and critical thinking.
  • Self-motivated, self-starter with a sense of urgency and well-organized.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or relevant equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of related management experience or commensurate combination of education and experience.

Pay

Salary Range: $115,000 – $165,000. This range represents a good faith salary estimate for this position. The specific rate will be determined by variables such as education, experience, skill set, geographic location, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
