Manufacturing Technician
About The Position
The Manufacturing Technician work directly under the supervision of the Engineering Manager. This role serves as the first point of contact for resolving product-related issues on the production floor and ensuring proper maintenance of equipment used in manufacturing. The technician plays a key role in catheter production by performing routine tasks, maintaining compliance with quality standards, and contributing to overall production efficiency.
Work Location/Schedule
This position requires the employee to be onsite at our VitalPath Maplewood, MN location. Shift/Schedule: Day hours Monday–Thursday 9 hour days, Friday 4 hour days. VitalPath does not offer relocation assistance for this position.
Responsibilities
- Maintain production equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Drive manufacturing performance by implementing and enforcing standardized systems, policies, and procedures; provide coaching and guidance to operators.
- Assist in the setup, operation, and adjustment for both manufacturing equipment for production as well as new technology introduction for production.
- Perform in-process inspections and measurements to verify compliance with product specifications and quality standards.
- Accurately document production activities and process data in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of basic equipment and process-related issues to minimize downtime.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with safety regulations.
- Provide hands-on assistance during product builds, addressing discrepancies and implementing manufacturing aids to streamline processes.
- Collaborate directly with engineering teams on projects, process improvements, and daily operational tasks.
- Troubleshoot product, process, and equipment-related issues, escalating complex problems as needed.
- Deliver hands-on training for manufacturing processes to ensure operator competency and adherence to standards.
- Develop and implement quick process improvements to enhance product build efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED or equivalent
- 1–3 years experience in assembly or manufacturing operations
- Experience working in a medical device or GMP manufacturing environment having experience working in class 7 cleanroom
- Ability to perform Engineering testing required for process validation qualification activities
- Able to communicate to engineers and instill instructions to operators
- Ability to work with a microscope with small tools to complete tasks
- Ability to work independently and in a group setting
- Ability to follow and give instructions
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks well
- Ability to lead projects from start to finish
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong troubleshooting skills using technical and analytical thinking
- Multitasking and excellent time management skills
- Working knowledge of how to read/interpret Safety Data Sheets
- Required to stand and/or sit in a clean room monitoring all operators on a day-to-day basis
- Long periods of microscope usage
- Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds of load
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's Degree
- Comprehension of blueprints, including basic dimensioning and tolerance
- Experience with microscope, ruler, and micrometer
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and related software
- Medical catheter manufacturing experience
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
Compensation
The hourly range for this position is $18.75 – $25.00. The posted hourly range complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as market conditions, level of experience and training, education, certifications, as well as internal and external equity. This position is eligible to earn an annual performance bonus based on meeting VitalPath's bonus performance plan.
