Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe practices and support EHS initiatives.
  • Champion high quality standards. Work with area team members, engineers, and quality, and other personnel on quality excursions.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and ensure work place stays neat, clean and orderly.
  • Set up and operate tube reducer machine according to detailed process instructions, written or verbal instructions.
  • Change dies, mandrels and convert machines as production schedules require.
  • Make the necessary adjustments to the machine using micrometers, indicators, gages and other precision measuring equipment provided.
  • Maintain and interpret records and take necessary action as prescribed. Initiate reports as directed.
  • Monitor product surface and size qualities by periodic checks of ID, OD, and wall thickness samples and make machine setups and adjustments as necessary to assure quality product.
  • Perform coolant changes assuring that proper water/coolant ratio is met.
  • Troubleshoot and correct machinery faults/failures.
  • Perform routine/minor maintenance activities.
  • Assist in scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Set up and operate automatic saw tables according to detailed process instructions, written or verbal instructions.
  • Set up and operate lathes used to chamfer tubing.
  • Instruct and/or train new reducer operators.
  • Exercise care is required in setting up tube reducer to prevent damage of material.
  • Review OPS, MS, and MEI for correctness and recommend changes to enhance safety, quality and productivity.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience reading and interpreting various gauges including micrometers or vernier calipers. Demonstration will be required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience troubleshooting mechanical systems
  • Must have at least one (1) of the following:
    • Minimum of one (1) experience with N/C (Numerically Controlled) Machine Tool equipment operation
    • Minimum of one (1) experience with CNC (Computer Numerical Control) equipment operation
    • College Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Trade/Discipline
  • Must be mechanically inclined with ability to work with hands skillfully. One (1) experience with at least three (3) of the following: mills, drills, power saws, grinders, presses, screw machines, lathes, deburr/edge contouring

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be proficient with basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and Shop Math, including decimals and fractions.
  • Required to work shift work in accordance with business needs. Will be expected to respond to scheduled overtime, hold over, or emergency call-in as required.
  • Must be physically able to manually lift of up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to earn crane certification in a reasonable amount of time
  • Eyesight must be correctable to 20/20. Vision and color blindness test may be required, depending on assignment.

Desired Characteristics

  • Demonstrated (past experience acceptable) mechanical abilities
  • Experience run manual and automated CNC Machines
  • Tooling experience
  • Experience using dial indicators and air gages.
  • Experience working in clean or chemical processes
