About the role
Location: Clackamas, OR 97015. Duration: 3+ months with possible extensions. Shift: 3rd shift/graveyard (10 pm – 6:30 am). Requires availability to work at least one weekend day and overtime.
Responsibilities
- Observes all company safety policies and procedures as well as maintain good housekeeping, GMP and Global Food Safety practices
- Lockout/Tagout Procedures
- Changeover, repair and troubleshoot all plant production equipment
- Identification of complex problems with mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, hydraulic issues on all associated equipment (conveyors, compressors, chillers, programmable controllers (VFD/PLCs), robots, boiler and waste water); review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
- Able to understand and complete Preventative Maintenance based on Preventative Maintenance schedules
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed
- Responsive to maintenance requests in a timely manner and complete maintenance reports as required
- Maintain plant equipment to ensure maximum efficiency
- Ability to work with vendors and/or contractors as required
- Ensure spare parts or services are ordered as required
- Implement operational improvements (spoilage, downtime, line speeds, etc.)
- Train others to operate equipment and produce products safely and efficiently
- Maintain organization of spare parts
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor
- Complete special projects and duties as assigned
- Continuously monitor and physically inspect production equipment
- Diagnose mechanical/electrical problems and determine how to correct them- checking blueprints- repair manuals- or parts catalogs- as necessary
- Dismantle and reassemble machines to fit or replace necessary parts
- Rebuild/ fabrication of equipment
- Welding mild and stainless steel (sanitary welding)
- Complete work orders
- Maintain logs and records
- Investigates electrical and instrument equipment failures and develops action plans to eliminate repetitive failures
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation
- Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests
- Other duties as assigned within the scope of the role
Qualifications
- High School Degree or equivalent
- 5+ years in a manufacturing/production environment
- Experience with mechanical and/or electrical repair required
- Knowledge of fabrication, machine shop tools, hydraulics and/or pneumatics
- Ability to read and follow schematics, electrical diagrams, and blueprints
- LME (Limited Maintenance Electrical) License preferred
- OSHA 10/CPR nice to have
- Prior experience operating pallet jacks or fork lifts
- Previous forklift certification preferred; will be certified before allowed to operate at client facility
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently
- Manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance required
