The purpose of a Maintenance Mechanic II is to perform general preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance, and repairs of all conveyors, production equipment, and building-related equipment. This role requires intermediate troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair skills for pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems to detect and correct minor issues before they escalate.

Responsibilities

  • Building Maintenance – Performs general facility repairs such as minor plumbing, general electric, lighting, painting, and wall repair. Handles minor repairs on doors and dock plates. Assists Senior Mechanics with major repairs and Tenant Improvement work. Communicates with peers, customers, and management to accomplish tasks.
  • Conveyor System Maintenance – Performs reactive repairs and preventative maintenance on conveyors and sorter equipment. Cleans and lubricates machinery, performs diagnostic tests, and checks performance. Assembles/disassembles pneumatic sub-systems. Troubleshoots conveyor controls, adjusts/calibrates, or repairs as needed. Collaborates with vendor partners to determine root causes and corrections.
  • Equipment Maintenance – Performs preventative maintenance on production-related equipment, Powered Industrial Trucks, and building equipment. Maintains inventory and cleanliness of equipment and work areas.
  • Electrical – Troubleshoots and performs tasks involving low and high voltage electrical and control systems (480V AC/DC), including repair or replacement of components.
  • System Installation – Assists or performs installations of new or replacement facility equipment.
  • Problem Solving – Uses problem-solving methodologies to resolve issues related to facility operations.
  • Facility Cleanliness & Safety – Ensures work areas are organized, neat, and clean. Identifies and addresses safety hazards immediately. Follows safety regulations, including lockout/tagout procedures. Communicates safety issues and training requirements.
  • Fabrication – Uses materials and tools to create or repair custom equipment (e.g., wood, metal).
  • Record Keeping – Performs data entry (e.g., work order tracking/filing) and maintains updated tools and documents (e.g., Material Safety Data Sheets). Tracks time, parts, and repairs for accountability.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a related field.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including conveyor systems in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Experience with Dematic conveyors and related equipment (e.g., Rapid Route, Flex Sort, Crown, Raymond).
  • Working knowledge of standard building codes and safety regulations.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of PLCs and sortation controls.
  • Ability to follow blueprints, technical manuals, and engineering specifications.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team and learn new trades.
  • Strong sense of urgency.
  • Availability for on-call shifts, nights, weekends, and overtime as required.
  • Good computer skills.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $30.00/hour to $35.00/hour, with adjustments to comply with state and local minimum wage laws.
