Job Summary
The worker must be open to working at least one weekend day, and overtime. This position is for 3+ months with possible extensions and operates on a 3rd shift schedule from 10pm to 6:30 am.
Role Responsibilities
- Observes all company safety policies and procedures as well as maintain good housekeeping, GMP and Global Food Safety practices
- Lockout/Tagout Procedures
- Changeover, repair and troubleshoot all plant production equipment
- Identification of complex problems with mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, hydraulic issues on all associated equipment (conveyors, compressors, chillers, programmable controllers (VFD/PLCs), robots, boiler and waste water)
- Review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
- Able to understand and complete Preventative Maintenance based on Preventative Maintenance schedules
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed
- Responsive to maintenance requests in a timely manner and complete maintenance reports as required
- Maintain plant equipment to ensure maximum efficiency
- Able to work with vendors and/or contractors as required
- Ensure spare parts or services are ordered as required
- Implement operational improvements (spoilage, downtime, line speeds, etc.)
- Train others to operate equipment and produce products safely and efficiently
- Maintain organization of spare parts
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor
- Continuously monitor and physically inspect production equipment
- Dismantle and reassemble machines to fit or replace necessary parts
- Rebuild/ fabrication of equipment
- Welding mild and stainless steel (sanitary welding)
- Complete work orders
- Maintain logs and records
- Investigate electrical and instrument equipment failures and develop action plans to eliminate repetitive failures
- Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation
- Provide mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests
Qualifications and Experience
- High School Degree or equivalent
- 5+ years in a manufacturing/production environment
- Experience with mechanical and/or electrical repair required
- Knowledge of fabrication, machine shop tools, hydraulics and/or pneumatics
- Ability to read and follow schematics, electrical diagrams, and blueprints
- LME (Limited Maintenance Electrical) License preferred
- OSHA 10/CPR nice to have
- Prior experience operating pallet jacks or fork lifts
- Previous forklift certification preferred
