About the role

Oviedo Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic II to join their team. This position involves performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance tasks, including plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance on various equipment in accordance with diagrams, manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Maintains and repairs air handling units, exhaust fans, supply fans, patient beds, sterilizers, generators, and oxygen and vacuum systems.
  • Repairs coils, piping, and related controls.
  • Cuts and threads pipes, fits valves, couplings, and other specified parts to piping sections and plumbing fixtures.
  • Constructs, repairs, and maintains furniture, wall partitions, cabinets, doors, windows, and building framework using hand and power tools.
  • Calculates material quantities needed for projects and applies coats of paint, varnish, stains, or enamels to decorate and protect surfaces.
  • Performs groundwork and maintains landscaping sprinkler systems.
  • Keeps up-to-date preventive maintenance records.
  • Responds to emergency and on-call duties on a 24-hour basis.
  • Observes safety rules and regulations at all times.
  • Performs duties alone on off-shifts and weekends while supervising the operation of the entire plant.
  • Provides BLS and/or ALS mutual aid care as needed.
  • Maintains building lighting and lighting control systems including all fixtures, lamps, ballasts, and exit signs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Vocational/Technical/Vocation advanced education in low voltage electrical systems
  • Advanced knowledge in Plumbing systems
  • Post-secondary school or vocational training
  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
  • 3+ years' experience in plant operations and/or building maintenance
  • Hospital/Healthcare environment experience (preferred)
  • Mechanical experience (prefer minimum 2 years)

Skills

Must be able to perform tasks independently and respond to emergencies.
