About the role

This role supports the development and manufacturing of electromechanical ground support equipment and space-based energy systems. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in both mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines to manufacture complex rotating machinery and power conversion hardware from design intent to functional, qualified assemblies.

Responsibilities

  • Translating engineering intent and drawings into fully functional electromechanical hardware ready for test, qualification, and deployment by crafting manufacturing bill of materials and work instructions.
  • Providing Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) feedback to design engineering throughout the product development lifecycle, influencing part geometry, tolerances, material selection, and assembly sequences to optimize manufacturability.
  • Defining end-to-end manufacturing process flows from raw material through final assembly and test, identifying critical path operations and process interdependencies.
  • Evaluating, selecting, and specifying manufacturing equipment — including winding machines, balancing equipment, CNC machinery, test stands, and specialized tooling — to establish production capability for new and evolving product lines.
  • Developing manufacturing processes for assemblies involving high-speed rotating components, stator/rotor integration, winding installation, insulation systems, and precision electrical-mechanical interfaces.
  • Applying strong mechanical engineering fundamentals — tolerance stack-ups, fits, thermal management, structural assembly, and precision alignment — alongside electrical engineering knowledge of motor/machine construction.
  • Providing shipside/lineside support on the manufacturing floor for both mechanical and electrical assembly operations.
  • Non-conformance report (NCR) generation, management, and closure addressing both mechanical dimensional conformance and electrical performance requirements.
  • Supporting introduction of new products by crafting manufacturing plan artifacts including build plans, duration estimates, production schedules, and tool lists.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals including motor construction, winding patterns, insulation systems, conductor termination, and high-voltage assembly practices.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production engineering capacity, including internships.
  • Direct manufacturing experience with electric motors or similar rotating electrical machines (alternators, dynamometers, traction motors, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience defining manufacturing process flows and selecting production equipment for electromechanical hardware.
  • Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals including GD&T, tolerance analysis, precision fits, bearing installation, rotor balancing, and structural assembly.
  • Ability to read and interpret both mechanical drawings (GD&T) and electrical drawings (schematics, wiring diagrams, interconnect drawings).
  • Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in an electric motor or rotating electrical machine manufacturing facility.
  • Experience with stator winding, rotor assembly, and final machine integration.
  • Experience standing up new production lines or manufacturing cells, including equipment procurement and layout.
  • Familiarity with rotor balancing, vibration analysis, and precision alignment of rotating assemblies.

Skills

  • Strong mechanical and electrical engineering fundamentals.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Short and long-term disability.
  • 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%.
  • Education Support Program.
  • Stock Options for all regular employees (working at least 20 hours/week).
  • Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.

Pay

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Schedule

The schedule is flexible and can vary based on project needs.
