About the role

The Managing Director is responsible for overseeing the operations and success of all business units within the defined region. This role involves developing and achieving the yearly business plan and budget, providing leadership to ensure positive and profitable relationships with external parties, and managing the effective implementation of processes to drive regional growth and achieve financial and operational objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the development and preparation of each Division’s annual business plan and budget in conjunction with management, and monitor progress against business objectives throughout the year.
  • Develop and execute a regional business plan incorporating annual goals and objectives.
  • Operate the region within established budgetary guidelines and manage the annually assigned budget for travel and other expenses.
  • Analyze monthly financial performance indicators and make necessary adjustments to ensure regional profitability.
  • Conduct monthly site visits and business reviews with General Managers to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Review and contribute to decisions on advertising, marketing, pricing, and other sales-related issues, staying cognizant of current selling trends and backlogs to maximize profits.
  • Direct market penetration and sales growth, including new business development activities.
  • Identify, analyze, and recommend strategic alliances to generate increased customer satisfaction, sales, and financial growth.
  • Pursue and implement continuous process improvement across all areas of the business.
  • Ensure employees maintain a consistent focus on high-quality customer service, providing guidance and support where necessary.
  • Evaluate industry, market, and technology trends to assess potential business impacts and make recommendations as needed.
  • Act as a liaison in implementing and interpreting corporate programs, policies, and operating procedures, and champion new initiatives to sustain long-term success.
  • Participate in industry trade events and other marketing initiatives.

Supervisory / Management Responsibilities

  • Directly or indirectly supervise employees, adhering to organizational policies and applicable laws.
  • Interview, hire, and mentor staff within the assigned region.
  • Conduct routine 1:1 meetings with all direct reports.
  • Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or 8-10 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding goals.
  • Successful track record of building strong customer relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and achieve results.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible business experience, including full P&L responsibility and overall management of an operating business unit.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and capabilities in financial analysis, human resource and business administration, legal and ethical practices, marketing, business development, and sales.
  • Ability to think strategically, synthesize complex business/financial data, and develop innovative solutions.
  • Strong financial acumen to evaluate P&Ls and quickly identify areas of concern.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic sales strategies.
  • Excellent planning, organizing, and leadership/supervisory skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and executive presentation skills.
  • Strong customer and results orientation.
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures.
  • Ability to be an effective member of and lead a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Pay

$200,000 to $280,000 per year plus bonus.
