Manager, Shipboard HR Programs
About the role
The Manager Shipboard HR Programs at CCL is responsible for the end-to-end management and execution of strategic HR programs that support the company’s HR strategy. The role involves developing, designing, implementing, and auditing HR policies and HR standard operating procedures that govern the fleet. Additionally, this individual serves as a Project Manager for organizational changes required for the shipboard workforce, ensuring regulatory, legal, and MLC compliance.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the end-to-end development and design of HR Policies and HR Standard Operating Procedures for the fleet.
- Maintain the Carnival Shipboard Employee Handbook to ensure it accurately reflects changes and updates to policies and procedures.
- Implement a regular review process to ensure compliance with appropriate maritime regulations including the MLC, STCW, and Flag.
- HR Project Management: Define project scope, align stakeholders, manage risks, plan, and execute to support shipboard HR strategic people plans. Work collaboratively with key operational stakeholders to keep projects on track.
- Develop HR Communication strategies to translate complex HR initiatives into clear, engaging messages for employees. Maintain the HR SharePoint system for the vessels and relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Lead and streamline crew receivable initiatives to recover outstanding expenses owed to the company. Liaise with vessels, HR Directors, and team members to review statements and approve/deny disputes.
- Oversee, administer, and manage vendor relationships for the Carnival International Savings Plan and the Senior Officers Health Insurance program with Allianz.
Qualifications
- Essential - Degree in HR Management or Equivalent. Preferred: SHRM or CIPD qualified.
- 5 years in a similar role.
- Significant HR Generalist/Management experience is essential. Preference given to experience in the cruise industry and/or shipboard experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Scope: Works closely with VP Shipboard HR as well as Operations VPs and Leaders on strategic HR initiatives and programs impacting all shipboard functional departments and all 55,000 shipboard employees.
- Problem Solving: Requires facilitation of team work, brainstorming, building consensus across departments, and analytical thinking to break down complex issues into manageable deliverables.
- Impact: The role impacts all shipboard departments and all 55,000 shipboard employees.
- Leadership: Needs to work across department lines to ensure timely program delivery to meet core business objectives.
