As we continue to grow, we are excited to add a Product Safety & Compliance Manager to our global team. Overview A detailed-oriented, passionate, and dynamic leader is needed to be an integral part of our product development teams, ensuring that all of our new designs are safe, meet retailer requirements, and comply with all laws and regulations for the countries where sold. In this position, you will experience unparalleled collaboration with many functions of the organization – Design Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Marketing, Supply Chain, Creative, ID, Quality, Manufacturing, Legal, International, and Senior Executives. You will be interacting with external business partners – certification and test agencies, suppliers, factories, and international distributors, offering you exposure and interaction unlike any other role in the organization. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring delivery of products to market that are free of unnecessary risk and deliver delightful experiences for consumers. Lead development of certification plans for new product designsDesign initiatives related to team participation in market surveillance activitiesEvaluate marketplace and consumer events for safety risksManage and conduct design and construction reviews for risk analysis and mitigationParticipate in DFMEA activities to ensure successful executionServe as the essential source of knowledge and expertise for all safety and compliance necessitiesAct as project manager for safety and compliance related activitiesLead activities surrounding identification and communication of market access requirementsPrepare and present executive review updates on team activities related to NPD projectsAct as principal approver for all safety, compliance, and marketing collateralServe as lead for international product extensions for EU, UK and/or rest or world programsManage and coach direct reports to continuously drive high performanceParticipate in global talent development programsParticipate as a corporate representative in standards development committees and trade associationsHYBRID - This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week onsite at our headquarters in Needham, MA Attributes & Skills Bachelor’s degree ideally in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering5 or more years of compliance or design related experience of consumer or commercial electromechanical productsExperience supervising engineering or test personnelKnowledge of regulatory standard and/or governmental regulationsExperience with facilitating or participating in DFMEA sessionsComfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with shifting prioritiesAbility to multi-task, maintaining a continuous comprehensive understanding of project statusDeliver creative and technically sound solutions to complex problemsAnalytical operations skills seeking to drive continuous improvement initiativesComfortable pushing back on stakeholders in pursuit of product safety and compliance requirements - able to collaborate and compromise where appropriateComfortable operating independently - developing project plans within area of expertiseBring skills in communicating complex technical information to audiences with varying technical understandingStrong written, verbal and presentation skills, demonstrating comfort and confidence in presenting to and communicating with colleagues and superiorsKnowledge and understanding of consumer product and electrical home appliance standards or transferable industry experience10-15% travel Salary and Other Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is displayed below. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
