About the role

The Manager of Retirement Services at NW Bancshares HQ, Bellevue, spearheads the entire Northwest Banks Retirement Plan business with a focus on sales growth, client acquisition, and departmental objectives. They lead strategies to enhance participation and cooperation among internal and external stakeholders, including the Trust and Financial Advisor teams.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor vendor and administrator performance to ensure high-quality service
  • Direct and provide guidance to staff and plan sponsors
  • Oversee retirement plan budgets, forecasts, and long-term strategies
  • Contact customers to solve technical issues and communicate as needed
  • Work closely with Employee Benefit Compliance Specialist to draft policies and procedures, monitor compliance efforts, and foster a culture of accountability
  • Develop and monitor compliance activities
  • Implement strategies with Department Heads, Retirement Plan Consultants, and staff
  • Cultivate referrals and potential clients
  • Identify and resolve employee and customer questions
  • Aid in product development
  • Collaborate with Examiners and Auditors
  • Work with Retirement Plan Consultants and Third-Party Administrators & Record-keepers
  • Complete/assist with special projects assigned by Senior Trust Officer
  • Manage workflow of Administrative team
  • Ensure compliance with Internal Revenue Code
  • Identify and resolve plan-related problems
  • Conduct research and analysis
  • Ensure total document and data integrity
  • Draft and implement updates and improvements to procedures
  • Maintain compliance with Northwest’s policies and procedures, and Federal/State regulations
  • Stay current on trends, strategies, and compliance/regulatory issues

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in business or related field
  • 8 - 12 years relevant employee benefit and pension plan administration experience
  • Plan document and legislative experience
  • Financial organization or similar compliance experience
  • General supervisory/manager knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Ability to identify and address problems, allocate resources, make decisions, and communicate effectively
  • Understanding of procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies
