What You Will Do
- Plans, organizes, implements, and controls department activities and operations for assigned area(s)
- Makes sure operations meet standards and objectives
- Develops and implements processes through orientation, training, and education to ensure staff competence
- Develops and monitors expense budgets, authorizes expenditures
- Develops and recommends procedures to improve operational efficiency and quality of service
- Investigates trends and introduces new procedures
- Ensures compliance with organizational policies
- Interprets, executes, and recommends policy modifications
- Provides leadership for educational programs for students and staff
- Advances the profession through participation in professional organizations and completing required continuous training and education
Education & Formal Training Requirements
- Required - Technical Degree or Diploma in Radiology
- PREFERRED - Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or Radiology
- PREFERRED - Master's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or Radiology
Licenses & Certifications Requirements
- BASIC LIFE SUPPORT - American Heart Association
- Registered Radiologic Technologist - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonography - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonography
- Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of Radiology practice, procedures, and regulatory standards
- Ability to understand and prepare complex written materials
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of Associates, management, physicians, and patients and their families
- Ability to lead and motivate individuals and groups of people toward the accomplishment of work and organizational goals
- Skill in negotiating with and between individuals and groups of people, including Associates, management and physicians
- Ability to plan and schedule tasks and projects and to maintain control of own and others’ work flow
- Ability to work without close supervision or professional guidance and to exercise independent judgment
- Basic knowledge of radiology information systems (RIS, HIS, and PACS preferred)
Physical Demands
- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion
- Must have good balance and coordination
- The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading
