About the role

Turnstone is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering people with disabilities to achieve their highest potential. This position is a full-time, 40-hour per week role with a typical schedule of Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction, training, and daily supervision to Program Assistants, Drivers, and any students/volunteers in the ADS program.
  • Support departmental goal achievement through the direction and management of the daily operations of the department.
  • Direct and monitor the performance of the staff to assure that the environment is safe and that supplies and equipment are adequate.
  • Ensure effective staff coverage is available and review and approve staff time off requests.
  • Foster staff development by encouraging them to pursue certifications and continued education opportunities as appropriate.
  • Provide timely and thorough communication to ADS staff members.
  • Recognize staff members regularly for positive results achieved and counsel/coach staff as needed, confronting in a positive, problem-solving manner and in accordance with Turnstone policies.
  • Develop and sustain an atmosphere conducive to high morale, self-esteem and appreciation of co-workers.
  • Ensure and support decision making relevant to Turnstone’s mission, vision and strategic plan.
  • Respond positively to changing circumstances to maximize opportunities and minimize problems.
  • Think innovatively to continue to build and grow an effective and efficient program.
  • Assume an advocacy role on behalf of people with disabilities, build a network with other community resources, and educate the public regarding agency services and disabilities.
  • Career Caregiver Support & Safety
  • Coordinate and schedule the activities and meetings of the ADS program.
  • Develop positive relationships with clients, families and support staff.
  • Provide support to Program Assistants as-needed by providing direct client care if short-staffed, if client needs escalate, or in emergency situations.
  • Schedule and participate in in-service training and conferences for families and staff.
  • Pursue continuing education opportunities to keep informed of new developments and resources related to ADS and Memory Care programs.
  • Aid in Caregiver Coaching and Behavior Management (CCBM) as necessary.
  • Administration
  • Coordinate the Adult Day Services transportation program, including route planning, scheduling, communication with drivers and participants, day-to-day operational oversight, and serving as a backup driver as needed.
  • Utilize the electronic health records system effectively and efficiently.
  • Submit charges in the electronic health records system within 72 hrs of the day of service.
  • Adhere to the Turnstone Confidentiality Policy which includes verbal, written, computer generated, computer accessed, filmed and recorded information related to clients, their family, visitors and staff.
  • Be responsible for the protection of confidentiality of data at all times, and uphold the agency and professional Code of Ethics.
  • Complete any department-required administrative functions and agency reports as needed.
  • May complete other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.
  • Food Program Support & Safety
  • In partnership with the Manager of KELC, serve as backup support for kitchen operations during planned or unplanned absences of food service staff, including assisting with meal preparation, food distribution, and other essential kitchen duties.
  • Collaborate closely with the Manager of KELC and Certified Food Handler & CACFP Specialist to ensure continuity of safe, compliant food service operations across ADS and KELC programs.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of direct-cargiving experience in an aging and/or disability services organization.
  • 1+ year of experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity.
  • Knowledge of caring for adults with disabilities.
  • Knowledge around Alzheimer’s and Dementia support is a plus.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Willingness to obtain an IAADS Certification within the first 6 months of employment.
