Manager Material Planning & Disposition
Job Summary
Directs the forecasting, receipt, storage, and movement of all material goods. Through subordinate supervisors, coordinates with other departments to ensure the timely flow of materials within an established timeframe. Coordinate the availability of NAFTA sourced parts & import parts from Europe and optimize packaging topics as well as steer and optimize the JIS supply chain.
Responsibilities
- Lead and facilitate the Material planning Team Members on parts availability involving local and international suppliers
- Provide guidance and support for the ramp up of parts availability for the launch of the new Sprinter model.
- Develops and monitors inventory control systems to ensure adequate supply and sufficient movement of materials.
- Lead and facilitate the Material Planning Team Members in developing relationships with new NAFTA suppliers. Plan, track and control the procedures and work tasks in order to procure production parts.
- Develop and implement objectives with suppliers regarding parts supply, and ensure that these objectives are kept.
- Formulate and implement a supply chain strategy with suppliers, including coordination of delivery dates and quantities, and counter measure plans in case of unforeseeable events.
- Fulfill all requirements as primary respondent to production / quality inquiries regarding supplier issue and Production Parts availability.
- Maintain a high degree of integrity and fairness in dealings and transactions with all logistics service providers / suppliers and regularly monitors that activity to ensure its consistency.
- Develop and implement materials handling procedures; monitor the cost and effectiveness of activities to optimize resources, prioritize spending and achieve volume, timeliness, reliability, and safety standards.
- Interpret inventory requests, production schedules, orders, and other documents to co-ordinate materials handling activities with the organization’s current and anticipated demand for goods and materials.
- Liaise with functional or operational area managers so the supply of materials meets their current and future needs.
- Participate in regularly scheduled team meetings.
- Will perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Leads team of direct reports.
- Leads employees in line with organizational culture, values and guidelines; defines performance goals, conducts performance reviews; effectively communicates and engages employees to meet objectives; Responsible for employee development and qualification.
Financial Responsibilities
- Manages budget and personnel allocation efficiently. Conveys budget distribution and cost saving processes to colleagues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics or in a related Engineering field.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in managing teams in a lean manufacturing environment and in the field of Supply Chain Management and/ or Supplier Quality.
Knowledge and Skills
- Specific areas of interest are logistics, procurement, order management, supplier development, and supplier quality.
- Distinct knowledge of Parts Supplier processes and issues. Knowledge of the product and parts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate with all levels of management, executive/senior staff
- Analytical skills and understanding of problem solving techniques/tools. Disciplined, objective and detail oriented.
