About the role
Taylor Corporation is seeking a Planning and Materials Manager to join their team in Hutchins, TX. This role oversees purchasing, inventory control, and production scheduling to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the planning, purchasing, storage, and distribution of materials and inventory.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels to prevent shortages and reduce excess stock.
- Cook up coordination with procurement, production, warehouse, and logistics teams to support operations.
- Monitor inventory accuracy through audits, cycle counts, and reconciliation processes.
- Analyze demand forecasts and material usage to support production schedules.
- Provide day-to-day oversight of the manufacturing schedule, ensuring plans are built to maximize throughput and minimize downtime.
- Manage supplier relationships, pricing negotiations, and delivery performance.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and material handling standards.
- Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste and costs.
- Maintain accurate records and reporting within ERP/MRP inventory systems.
- Lead and supervise materials and warehouse staff to ensure productivity and operational success.
- Lead the onboarding of new projects and products while providing leadership and direction to the pre-press team to support successful execution.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in the field.
- Prior supervisory/leadership experience in a production or warehouse environment.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of inventory management systems and warehouse software.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Qualifications
- Planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to work full line of Microsoft office software including creating excel spreadsheet.
- Strong service orientation.
- Personal computer skills.
- To work with internal and external partners.
- Bachelor's Degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Experience in a print/direct mail environment.
