About the role

The Manager in Training is responsible for assisting the Store Manager regarding overall operations and administrative duties. They are knowledgeable in each product area or department in the store and assist in determining the methods and approaches necessary to accomplish the store’s goals and initiatives. The role upholds policies, procedures, and standards, promotes sales and promotions, and serves as an ambassador for Hibbett | City Gear to create a unique customer experience. The Manager in Training assumes supervisory control in the Store Manager’s absence and is trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett | City Gear.
  • Consult with Store Manager to establish action plans for departmental and overall store responsibilities such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
  • Assume responsibility for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments when necessary.
  • Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability in all departments.
  • Direct staff to ensure each department’s responsibilities and standards are completed.
  • Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
  • Maintain quality customer service.
  • Perform general administrative duties and train in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
  • Deliver extraordinary customer service, including assisting customers as they enter the store and during peak periods.
  • Promote and sell services and merchandise provided by Hibbett | City Gear.
  • Uphold all Hibbett | City Gear policies, procedures, and standards as outlined in company manuals.
  • Protect the company’s assets and financial information by ensuring accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and reporting potential fraud risks.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, and resolving problems.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
  • 1-3 years of customer service experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
  • Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with precision.
  • Team-player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.

Pay

$10.35 - $10.35 per hour
